I ended up loosing two entire walls, a closet, and the bottom two feet all the way around on the other two walls.

Once the walls have been tested (if we get any rain with which to test)... I will be able to paint the newly exposed walls and put wainscoting up on the other two (leaving an inch and a half space between the floor and it)... to hide the two feet of space at the bottom and to prevent the "fun guy" from returning.
We ladies love a bad boy, but this girl has learned a lot from this painful relationship... and now I am ready for someone with a dry sense of humor and stability.

I know this guy way too well!
ReplyDeleteOh Laurie, that is very unfortunate! Did it work out for you in the long run?
ReplyDeleteDid you use a particular method (beside tearing out the walls and/or offending stuff) and/or chemical to remove the mold? We have battled mold at our house since we have lived there and have tried to systematically rid ourselves of it, but I feel like we have never fully escaped it.
ReplyDeleteKelly Konietzko - you can post back to me on FB
Hello Kelly! I will post this on FB too just in case. But I did end up having to use a chemical... actually, I had a company come and remove it as well as treat it. It was a "green" product... can't remember the name, but it was a trifold combo. Remove, treat, and they also used a machine that changes the ionic condition of the air. They call it air scrubbing or Ionic scrubbing... it runs for about 24 hours... it's crazy!
ReplyDeleteI do know that the only way to remove it is to get it out of the house. the other treatments clean the surfaces and the air just in case and then it is good to go. It can come back, which may be what happened with you... are you running a fan and/or a dehumidifier? This is TOTALLY crucial. Hope all goes well, keep me updated!
Best/Worst Title ever. So glad your situation all worked out! A new dehumidifier is definitely on my wishlist after all this!
ReplyDeleteSara, I had a Tom moment, what can I say.
